Why the Home Environment Matters for Fall Prevention
Many falls occur because of environmental hazards such as poor lighting, loose rugs, cluttered walkways, or challenging stair navigation. Providing care in your home allows exercises and safety strategies to be designed around the spaces where you move every day.
Even small adjustments within the home can make a meaningful difference in reducing fall risk and improving confidence with movement. Practicing movement in the home helps build confidence in the spaces where daily life happens.
Common fall risks in the home include:
Loose Rugs
Poor Lighting
Cluttered walkways
Uneven stairs
Lack of grab bars or railings
What the Program Includes
This program focuses on improving the key systems that help you stay steady and confident with movement.
Balance Training
Exercises designed to improve stability, coordination, and confidence with standing and walking in everyday activities. Training may include dynamic balance activities, stepping strategies, and movement challenges that help your body respond more effectively to changes in position and environment.
Strength & Mobility
Targeted exercises to improve lower-body strength, posture, and joint mobility. Stronger legs, hips, and core muscles support safer movement, quicker reactions, and better control during everyday activities.
Home Safety Review
Practical recommendations to help reduce fall risks within your home environment. Small adjustments such as improving lighting, removing tripping hazards, or modifying frequently used spaces can make everyday movement safer and more comfortable.
Confidence Coaching
One-on-one guidance to help you feel more confident moving through daily activities such as walking outdoors, navigating stairs, or getting up from the floor. The goal is to improve safety while maintaining independence and activity.
This Balance & Fall Prevention Program is a wellness and prevention service designed to improve strength, stability, and confidence with movement. It is separate from medically necessary physical therapy services.
